denial can be an ugly thing
last friday plug was on the cards.detonate, £9.50 a ticket.prior to the walk down everyone had achieved a certain level of inebriation and i was no exception.for some reason at the beginning of the journey, the 6 or 7 people walking down to the place seemed like a rabble numbering 20 and upwards, everyone of them hungry for violence.
this soon passed and a discussion broke out between me and one of the members of this seemingly blood thirsty rabble.a nostalgic mist clouded the discussion and fond memories of ape skatepark and video classics, which are hidden away at the back of the lucky few's mind for just such a nostalgia trip, came rushing to the foreground.during that conversation i realised that we should not complain about the state of bmx at the moment, with it's web videos, trends and the 2mph ledge ferrets; we should really be trying to influence bmx to be a hybrid of the progression that's taken place and the bad assedness and good times mindset characteristic of the earlier years.it seemed to me then, during our venture to plug, absolutely imperative that the new breed learn about the stalwarts of quality bmx viewing: bicycles and dirt, home of the brave, the little devil videos, albert street, all time low etc etc etc etc etc..............................................................................
before the conversation had ended and before the revelation had the time it needed to be completely realised we had found our way to the destination...plug.the rabble somehow organised itself into a que.i was at the back, we had been lagging behind because the conversation had diverted our train of thought away from sticking with the pack and getting to the place.i remember there being a distinct feeling of anticipation in that que.perhaps this was because i had not been out in sheff for at least 2 weeks or maybe it was simply the name of the night.detonation.the act of exploding.the noun perfectly described exactly what i felt like doing the moment i set foot in that place.alas, thsi was not to be.
"got nee id?" i looked around me.i was at the front of the que.in front of me stood the ape like doorman that had uttered those fatal words.inside i could hear an assortment of sounds.tunes, laughter, conversation, the stomping of feet, the grinding of teeth... my anticipation and heart rate dropped.i knew tonight was not to be and i was resigned to my fate.i produced my worthless student card anyway and received confirmation that the night was indeed over, for me at least, and i trudged over to the pizza shop to indulge in a hot and not-so-spicy pizza.and now here i am.the pizza wasn't too bad.however, the night was a bitter dissapointment.at least i've learnt sumit.one thing concerning how to influence the future of bmx.another thing.....to get some proper id.
what a doyle.

1st november
chill is in the air and a bite is in the wind.for some reason this coldness came outa nowhere and i ain't got enough layers to cope.it was all hallows' even last night and there were many a ghost floating round the slack shack on the wave of inebriation and mental vibration.
anyway, the inspiration to make this second post came from watching this artivist film called zeitgeist.Zeitgeist - The Movieyou should really watch it, it's pretty shocking and eye opening.
i trust everyone is revelling in this autumn season.apparently the weather of the summer and early autumn has resulted in trees displaying some pretty sweet colours.gona get to the woods next week and check them out.
